A member of the Occupational Therapy team may contact you to talk to you about how you manage with everyday activities, and you may also require an assessment. We can then, together, work out options to best support you.

At Buckinghamshire Council we endeavour to assess people referred to Occupational Therapy as quickly as possible and will make contact to arrange this. The team receive a high volume of requests for support and unfortunately have a waiting list.
All referrals are prioritised on an individual basis and triaged according to the circumstances and risks.
Please update us if there has been a change in the situation since the original referral, or if an assessment is no longer required.
If you are using equipment on loan from NRS Healthcare which has become faulty or is no longer working, you can call NRS Healthcare on 0345 123 8248 for repair or replacement, or to make arrangements for equipment no longer required.
If you purchased equipment yourself, you need to contact the retailer to talk through the options available to you.
If you have equipment that no longer supports you in the way you need it to, an Occupational Therapist can check if what you have is still suitable or suggest different equipment that is right for you. You can call NRS Healthcare on 0345 123 8248 to arrange collection of the equipment you no longer use or need.
If equipment is a recommended option following your Occupational Therapy assessment you will be able trial equipment in your own home.
You may also be able to source your own equipment from high-street or online retailers.
Our service supports people with long-term needs and there are other provisions for short-term equipment, including private purchase, hire from the Red Cross, or via your GP from the District Nurse or other health community services. The hospital should provide any essential equipment if it is for a hospital discharge.
If relevant to your situation, a member of the Occupational Therapy team can assess how you manage the stairs and explore suitable options with you, this could include considering a stairlift. There are various options for funding this if recommended. This video provides more information.

We do not provide wheelchairs in Buckinghamshire; you can however call the Wheelchair service on 01494 734046 or the British Red Cross for short time hire.
Please contact your GP for hospital transport. If an emergency ambulance is required please contact 999 or NHS 111.
Occupational Therapy do not supply these, please contact you GP directly to request this, or your District Nurse if you are in contact with one.
