Assessment and Eligibility Policy

Buckinghamshire Council ("the Council") has a duty to assess any adult or carer who appears to have needs for care and support.

The nature and extent of a person’s needs are identified in an assessment. Not all needs identified in an assessment will be eligible for care arranged by the Council. The Council will provide information and advice about ways of addressing non-eligible needs.

This policy sets out how the Council:

• assesses an adult’s or carer’s care and support needs
• determines when an adult or carer is eligible for care arranged by the Council
• ensures that it fulfils its duty to meet the eligible, assessed needs of an adult or carer, including how support plans are developed
