Transport

There are various transport options available to support your mobility needs across Buckinghamshire.

Blue Badges

The blue badge scheme offers parking benefits to those with severe mobility issues, allowing easier access to essential services by letting you to park closer to the places you need to go.

Blue Badges usually last for 3 years.

To be eligible for a blue badge, you must have a disability or a health condition which severely impacts your mobility. You can read more about eligibility here.

Applying for or renewing a blue badge

You can apply for a new badge or renew an existing one online here

You will need:

  • a passport-style photograph
  • proof of identity (such as a valid passport, birth or adoption certificate, HM Forces ID card)
  • proof of address
  • proof you are eligible, including if you are automatically eligible

Older persons bus pass

If you are a resident of Buckinghamshire and have reached the state pension age, you are entitled to an older person’s bus pass.

The pass allows free travel on local buses during off-peak hours. We also offer an Early Travel Scheme, which allows pass holders to travel before 9am for only £1.

Applying for or renewing a bus pass

You can apply for a new bus pass or renew your existing bus pass online here.

You will need:

  • an email address (if you're applying online)
  • your National Insurance Number
  • a passport-style photograph

Bus passes are valid anywhere in England.

Disabled persons bus pass

If you have a permanent disability, or one that is expected to last at least 12 months, you can apply for a disabled person’s bus pass. The pass lets you travel on local buses for free and you can use the Early Travel Scheme, which allows pass holders to travel before 9am for only £1.

If you are unable to travel alone due to your disability, you can apply for a disabled person's bus pass with companion entitlement.

Your bus passes will be valid anywhere in England but except Dial-a-Rides and most coach services.

Transport for people who cannot drive or use public transport

For those who are unable to drive or use public transport due to age, disability, or illness, we offer community transport options.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for the NHS healthcare travel cost scheme.

The Community Transport Hub can help you find the right transport option to suit your needs. The Hub offers guidance and support, helping you access services. They cannot make or take any bookings but can advise you on the most suitable method of transport in your area to meet your needs.

Disabled parking

Disabled parking spaces are provided throughout Buckinghamshire to ensure accessible parking for blue badge holders. These spaces are typically located near key services and amenities.

Blue badge holders can use these spaces free of charge, but you should check any signs for specific restrictions or time limits.
