Recognising the signs and symptoms

Early detection of dementia can significantly impact the quality of life for those affected. Common signs include:

  • memory loss, particularly recent events, names, and faces
  • difficulty performing familiar tasks
  • problems with language, such as forgetting simple words
  • disorientation in time and place
  • poor or decreased judgement
  • misplacing things
  • changes in mood, behaviour, or personality
