Types of care and support available

  • Home care: Personal care and support provided in your own home.
  • Shared Lives: A scheme which is family-based care, provided by approved people in their home, sharing a family and community life.
  • Day Care Services: Community-based centres offering activities and social interactions.
  • Residential care: Long-term are provided in a residential care home.
  • Respite Care: Temporary care for those with care needs, giving primary caregivers a short-term break.
  • Direct Payments: Payments that allow you to arrange and pay for your own care, such as:
    • personal assistants
    • agency carers
    • day activities
    • respite care

You need to be eligible for a personal budget to receive direct payments.
